Curras Dom is just north of Beaver Lake, on Merrimon Ave. across the street from the entrance to Reynolds mountain.
Marie and I went in the other night… we were surprised to find it so charming inside.
My word of choice (borrowed from car culture) for Curras Dom’s nothing exterior… is it’s a “sleeper”.
The food was a fantastic surprise!
They call their menu offerings “modern Mexican”. I think we have to think of something with more saucy to call it….
Marie and I shared the generous and unadulterated guacamole (simple, fresh, ripe, mashed avocado.) on a bed of aromatic herb greens… a squeeze of lime, and freshly made corn chips.
What could be better?… except perhaps, a nice selection of top notch margarita concoctions to wet your whistle?
I had to skip the ceviche because I am allergic to shrimp (hate missing that!).
Marie and I ended up splitting the sublime chicken soup, and the cochinitas pibil (slow cooked, citrus savory, spiced pork in banana leaf, w/handmade tortillas!).
Are you hungry yet?
The short story is… the food was excellent and we will be back!
If you are in North Asheville do drop in for lunch or dinner. You will not be dissappointed!

Thanks for the review! I’ve been thinking about visiting that place. Sounds even more interesting now!
